This year it doesn’t matter if shirts are long or short-sleeved, but they are reconfirmed for the hot season with novelties that define new styles in step with the times. The most used materials are light and breathable poplin cotton and linen for the summer. The new interpretations of the shirt introduce experimental materials such as nylon, transparent organza and silk or ramie.

Most of the shirt’s shapes have an oversized and comfy cut , however more slim fit models have also appeared in the men’s fashion shows. Lots of them have timeless and minimalist proposals , but some has ultra-glamorous versions.

Utilitarianism in the comfort of garments is becoming more and more prevalent these days. We all have the desire to look professional for our careers, whilst also feeling secure in our clothes.

Lucky for us, since 2021 it has been normalised to combine elegant with laid-back: a blazer with a hoodie.

This look is not only weather-appropriate for the season of spring, but it also allows its wearer to feel relaxed and have a full-range of motion while looking put-together.

It is especially great for weekdays since it requires little effort to match monochrome tailoring with a leisure hoodie.

A fan of this trend? Check out the links below, and experiment with the pairings, and colour coordination yourself!

Looking professional has never been easier!

It feels like these past couple of years so many styles and aesthetics have become trendy that there has not been a single mainstream line of trend, and this is to continue this year as well.

With the cycle of trends having radically sped up, we can already expect 80s fashion to make a return, with its poofy, ruffle silhouettes, legwarmers, bubble hems and bows. The material tulle is to become popular again; soft colours and exciting shapes and textures. The ballet core aesthetics which has been trending encompasses all of those previously mentioned aspects of 80s fashion, with a touch of modernity through the exciting cuts and shapes.

Every six months designers present a preview of their collections to fashion editors, buyers, and style fans. Collections are available for customers six months later, global fashion weeks give us a glimpse into upcoming fashion trends, readying us for the season ahead.

After fashion shows across New York, London, Paris and Milan we can say spring/summer 2023 is going to be a good season. And whether you wear designer clothes or not, straight-to-market brands watch the shows carefully to decipher which fashion trends the industry is likely to be celebrating in six months’ time, using the shows to help to guide their own collections too. And while trends used to change quite drastically every six months, we’re seeing a number of the big fashion trends 2022 sticking around being developed, extended, and updated for the fashion trends 2023.Here are the 16 spring/summer fashion trends 2023 from New York Fashion Week and London Fashion Week that you need on your radar.

1. PURPLE HUES – One of the biggest fashion colour trends 2022 had to offer is set to remain a firm favorite for 2023.

2. TASSEL DETAILS – Another trend extending its lifecycle from 2022 into 2023 was tassel detailing.

3. LACE AND LASER CUTTING – Lace detailing is a great look for a spring/summer outfit as the lighter fabric and cut-out detailing lends itself to gloriously warm weather.

4. FROTHY AND FEATHERY -The fashion trends 2023 clearly demonstrated that there was romance on the cards, with tactile and frothy tulle and feathers adorning a selection of styles across New York’s eight-day fashion extravaganza.

5. RAYS OF SUNSHINE – For the fashion trends 2023 expect the season to be ushered in with significant amounts of yellow, as we welcome rising temperatures back into our lives – we can’t wait.

6. SPORTS LUXE – Sports Luxe is the fashion trend for 2023 that guarantees you can look great and feel comfortable in one stylish step.

7. BUBBLE HEMS – The voluminous bubble hem makes a playful reappearance every few years, and while it is unlikely to become a firm favorite in the way an A-line midi skirt has, a bubble skirt still makes for a fun addition to the fashion trends 2023.

8. RUFFLES – A trend that has been front and center for the past few seasons, from big skirts to big sleeves, the explosion of ruffles feels like an extension of a desire to be more present and noticeable, in other words, it’s time to let your style shine.

9. FLORALS – It might be one of the most popular fashion quotes of all time, but when it comes to the spring/summer fashion trends 2023, florals are back and they’re bigger than ever.

10. UNDERWEAR AS OUTERWEAR – Another carried-over trend, underwear as outerwear is the risque fashion trend that fluctuates in popularity.

11. BOW DETAILS – When it comes to bows for spring/summer 2023 – the bigger, the better. Oversized, statement styles were seen on the runways of London Fashion

12. BLUE HUES – Although pastel hues are rarely missing from the spring/summer trend reports, for 2023 we predict a greater leaning toward pastel and baby blue hues. Seen all over the runway at both New York and London Fashion Weeks.

13. PINK PERFECTION – One of the hottest fashion color trends in 2022 is set to continue as we head into 2023.

14. STATEMENT STRIPES – A style constant, there is rarely a season where stripes in some respect aren’t ‘on-trend’. While classic Breton stripes are still welcome in your capsule wardrobe, for the fashion trends 2023, we’re seeing the rise of bold super stripes.

15. LEATHER LOOKS – An unusual hit for spring / summer, we saw leather coats and jackets take to the runway at the likes of Versace, Tod’s and Prada, where looks continued to lean into the current Biker Chic trend.

16. GOTHIC GLAMOUR – Gothic Glamour feels offers an fashion-forward extension of the 90’s fashion trends that have dominated the current season. Minimalist, with plenty of sheer, slashed and strappy detailing.

Finland ranks the highest in a Sustainable Development Report of all UN member states, scoring 86.51 out of a possible 100.

Research from Savoo measured the country’s recycling rate, waste per capita, consumption footprint, and the number of flea markets and antique stores. While its consumption footprint was down 20 percent between 2010 and 2020, Italy, Sweden and Greece had greater reductions.

In its methodology, Savoo said a country’s consumption footprint refers to the size of the area needed to produce the materials it consumes, combined with the area needed to absorb the waste.

Denmark places second in the ranking, having reduced its consumption footprint by 14.26 percent between 2010 and 2020 and scores 85.63 out of 100 in the Sustainable Development Report. In 2020, more than half (53.9 percent) of Denmark’s waste was recycled. Textile waste is also relatively low in comparison to other countries with the country producing 18,134 tonnes each year.

When it comes to flea markets and antique stores, Denmark’s second-hand scene is slightly better than Finland’s, with 89 of these types of outlets compared with Finland’s 53.

The UK has the most flea markets and second-hand stores

Slovenia, Austria and Sweden complete the top five, with the UK, Netherlands, Belgium, Spain and Germany rounding out the top ten. In sixth place is the UK, while despite not scoring the highest on the Sustainable Development Report, it has the most flea markets and antique shops per capita, 1,300 for a population of 68 million.

Europe’s least sustainable shoppers can be found in Malta

Malta has the lowest recycling rate with just 10.5 percent of its total waste saved from landfill in 2020 and tops the list of Europe’s least sustainable shoppers. Other nations that need to improve their shopping habits include Ireland, Greece, Luxembourg and Romania.

Data shows Ireland to be the country with the largest increase in consumption (-42.86 percent) in the 10 years leading up to 2020. Not surprisingly, Ireland is the founder home of fast fashion chain Primark.

Greece is Europe’s third worst culprit for unsustainable practices with household waste estimated to be 142 kg per capita per year. The country scores low on the availability of pre-owned fashion and goods, with just 53 flea markets and antique stores.

In Savoo’s analysis of second-hand marketplaces Nike scored highest as the most popular brand. This was followed by Adidas, Levi’s, Zara and Rolex. The research was gathered across Depop, eBay, Etsy, and ASOS Marketplace.

How to become a more sustainably-minded shopper

Savoo suggest shoppers to use the 30 wears test as a benchmark. “Next time you see an on-trend item that you can’t wait to add to your basket, think about whether you’d wear it a minimum of 30 times before getting rid of it. This is a great test for making sure you’re thinking consciously about textile waste while helping you get the most out of your money.”

“Shopping is one of life’s greatest pleasures, and we’d never want to deprive ourselves of that new jeans feeling. But that doesn’t mean everything we buy has to be brand new. You can get high quality items for an affordable price by purchasing on reseller platforms like Vinted or using a clothing rental service for special occasions rather than heading to the high street. It’s also worth searching for online discount codes to see if you can cut the prices down by a few pounds.”

Underpinning its research Savoo ranked the 30 most populous European countries across their Sustainable Development Report ranking, recycling rate, consumption footprint, waste per capita, and the number of flea/street markets and antique stores.
